Conferences Heat Up in D1 Rugby This Weekend
OK we're getting serious now.
Eleven D1A, NCR D1, and D1AA conferences are in action this week (twelve if you count independent teams as playing conference games, which we probably should) involving 82 teams.
Every Game is Huge for Arkansas State
Arkansas State's 80-17 victory over Iowa Central CC has put opponents on notice that the Red Wolves are very serious.
ICCC Head Coach Brent Nelson was quick to praise ASU for their dangerous backline play and the mobility and fitness of their tight five. And Red Wolves Head Coach Dominic Shaw knows he has a good outfit.
Good Start in Rocky Mountain for Colorado State
The Rocky Mountain D1A Conference got off to an interesting start with intense rivals Colorado State and Colorado replicating the weekend's football fixture.
The new-look CSU approach, now that (relatively) new Head Coach Jone Naqica has had some time to formulate his plan, was quite impressive in a 40-18 defeat of the Buffaloes.
Who Shook Things Up Across College Divisions?
There were a variety of cross-divisional games in men's college rugby this weekend, providing coaches with a different measuring stick than just their annual opposition.
Men's D1 College Games Ramp Up This Weekend
Rugby East is a very tough conference and it seems like every week there's going to be a big game in that conference.
Probably the most interesting matchup this week is Kutztown at St. Bonaventure. While Kutztown has already played a game this season, Bonnies goes right into conference play with only an alumni scrimmage under its belt.
