Men’s Division 1AA (D1AA) represents a highly competitive tier of collegiate rugby in the United States, featuring programs governed by both National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) and the College Rugby Association of America (CRAA). It serves as a bridge between elite Division I play and developing Division II or Small College levels, offering strong regional competition and a pathway to national championships under each organization’s structure. While NCR and CRAA operate independently, both use the D1AA designation for schools with established programs that may not have the depth or resources of top-tier D1A teams.

Of course, there were some games going on in Florida, and as a result we had significant changes. Florida State ran into trouble late in the season and drop significantly.

Iowa State Holds Off Sam Houston State to Make CRAA D1AA Final Iowa State is in to the CRAA D1AA final after beating Sam Houston State on a beautiful day in Des Moines, Iowa. Much like last season's meeting between the two teams the Cyclones started fast, using flyhalf Justin Johnson’s boot to play in Sam Houston’s 22.
Eastern Regional Headlines D1AA Playoff April
The spring D1AA season is coming to a head with two playoffs this weekend, another next weekend, and a weekend of bowl games and a championship at the beginning of May. In Florida, the semifinals kick off with St. Thomas (8-0) taking on Florida State (5-3). The seedings hinged on the FSU vs South Florida game, in which USF won 39-34 to budge ahead at 5-2-1.
