Men’s Division 1AA (D1AA) represents a highly competitive tier of collegiate rugby in the United States, featuring programs governed by both National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) and the College Rugby Association of America (CRAA). It serves as a bridge between elite Division I play and developing Division II or Small College levels, offering strong regional competition and a pathway to national championships under each organization’s structure. While NCR and CRAA operate independently, both use the D1AA designation for schools with established programs that may not have the depth or resources of top-tier D1A teams.

A Little DIAA Playoff Speculation

In the spring of 2015 the DIAA national playoffs included just eight teams and five conference champions - the 2016 may well look very different.

Here’s why: More conferences will want to be involved this season, and that will make the number of conferences involved more than eight. In addition, there will be DIAA independent teams, namely Notre Dame College and, possibly, Delaware.

Bowl Win Means Much for North Texas

There was much to prove when North Texas took on Rutgers Saturday in the ACRC Bowl Series.

UNT entered the weekend ranked #50 by Goff Rugby Report among fall DI teams. A loss to unranked Rutgers (a team close to the top 50 for sure) would likely have seen UNT dropped from the rankings.
