Duluth Wins Northern Lights
Three-time defending national DII college champs Minnesota-Duluth took one step closer to defending their title with a 31-7 defeat of North Dakota State in the Northern Lights Conference final Sunday.
Grand Valley Wins Great Lakes Showdown
Grand Valley State University took control of the Great Lakes Conference with a 25-12 defeat of Oakland University Saturday.
This was a meeting of two 4-0 teams, both of which had dominated the rest of the competition. GVSU came in the defending conference champs, but it looked like they might lose that title when Oakland ran out to a 12-5 lead.
Great Lakes Down to This Weekend
The Great Lakes Men’s DII Conference has come down to this weekend, as Grand Valley State takes on Oakland University.
GVSU is normally the favored team in this conference, and in fact did very well last year, winning the Great Lakes, beating Northern Iowa in the first round of the playoffs, and losing to eventual national champs Minnesota-Duluth 24-3 - a very creditable scoreline.

Is Minnesota-Duluth automatic to win the Northern Lights Conference? Maybe … but it depends who you ask.
A couple of teams in the mostly-Minnesota Men’s DII college conference are looking to chase down those Fighting Penguins, and if you ask UMD, as well, they might say things are a little different this year.
