GRR: ECRC
It was a weekend of emphatic victories in the ECRC conference in ACRC competition, with the leading teams all winning comfortaly.
UMass sut out Fairfield 72-0. NEC defeated Middlebury 42-17. AIC hammered Albany 100-3 on Sunday, and Buston College shut out Northeastern 55-0.
The University of Massachusetts Amherst is off to a 2-0 start in the ECRC, and things look pretty good as they chase BC, AIC, and Middebury for the conference title.
The Minutemen disposed of Northeast 65-7 on Saturday after beating UConn in their conference opener.
Head Coach Phil Ciccarelli said the team is working together well early.
UMass remains atop the East Coast Rugby Conference after another big win, this week 65-7 over Northeastern.
Co-captain Thomas Thekaekara and prop Derek Wagener both scored two tries in an overall strong effort from the Minutemen. Australian exchange student Joe Jenkins kicked for 15 points and added a try, and he has been a useful injection of talent for UMass at flyhalf.
AIC ’center Adrian Ray was a central part of his team’s victory over NEC this past weekend.
Ray, a power-running midfielder out of the Perry Street Prep program in Washington, DC, provided one of the great highlights of the day, thundering over a defender to score one of AIC’s four tries on the night.
One of the most notable results in the non-conference games this weekend was Boston College handing Dartmouth a 43-17 loss.
