ECRC Latest - Tops are Top

It was a weekend of emphatic victories in the ECRC conference in ACRC competition, with the leading teams all winning comfortaly.

UMass sut out Fairfield 72-0. NEC defeated Middlebury 42-17. AIC hammered Albany 100-3 on Sunday, and Buston College shut out Northeastern 55-0.

NEC got two tries from center Isaiah Jopez and prop Will Darbouze punched through the Middlebury line on several occasions while lock Gavin Devine was also tough to stop on the run. Flanker Ky Young scored a try and poached five balls, while fullback Cathal Finneran kicked 12 points.

Caleb House, James Tayson, and Serrano Gibson all scored tries.

AIC got four tries from Marcus McIntyre and four from Jihad Khabir, while seven other players touched down. Freshman Lui Sitama scored 27 points thanks to 11 conversions and a try.

UMass enjoyed their shutout and got two tries from captain and lock Thomas Thekaekara, flanker Joe Hastry, and wing Jay Emott.

And in another shutout on Sunday, BC took advantage of Northeastern's blitzing defense and errors to find gaps and set up three tries for Joey D'Antonio and Danny Schatzman. Ben Nathan, Tom Whittam, and Frank Ruzicka also touched down for the Eagles.

So it looks as if the top four are very much the top four in the ECRC, with Middlebury chasing. It won't be until mid-October that we will see a major top-of-the-table clash.
