Gamebreakers HS Boys
Rain hit the HS schedule pretty hard this past weekend, but we did get some games and some standout performances.
Here's a look at who played well.
Josh Schnell, Katy Barbarians
The Katy threequarter scored two long-range tries in a 29-22 win over Westlake.
Issac Johnson and Will Smith, Charlotte Tigers
The two Tiger flankers didn't get on the scoresheet, but were a ferocious pair in every aspect of play, making tackles, winning rucks, and getting work done as the Tigers defeated Wando.
Ben Wakser, Wando
The Wando flanker led an impressive defensive effort in a close loss to Charlotte.
Matt Palmer, Jesuit New Orleans
The center set up a try and scored one while testing the NOLA Barbarians defense repeatedly in his team's 14-10 win.
Harrison Dulgarian, Mira CostaThe Mustangs scrumhalf and captain was a sparkplug during a 46-20 win over View Park Prep. |
Justin Petersen, LCC
Direction the offense and with his kicking, Petersen helped lead LCC to a win over Del Norte.
Bennett Erickson, Phoenix, Ga.
Playing flanker, Erickson was player of the game for Phoenix in their win over South Greenville, recording seven steals in the process.
Ethan McVeigh, St. Augustine
The Saints scrumhalf was an athletic and emotional instigator for his team as they won a close one over Cathedral.
Garrett Kay, Jesuit (Sacramento)
Kay toured with Eagle Impact Rugby Academy over the summer and the flanker returned from that experience a more imposing, powerful player. He took control when needed as Jesuit won the final of the Kickoff Tournament in a close game over Peninsula Green.
Alex Lopeti, Peninsula Green
Lopeti was an exciting player for Peninsula Green as they won their two opening games in the kickoff tournament, and he scored a crucial try in the final, ultimately a close loss to Jesuit.
Joey Hobbs, Union County
Hobbs scored three tries as Union County got by East Cobb in MSIRL action.
