Tour to Ireland a Special Event for KC Jr. Blues
The Kansas City Junior Blues are on tour in Ireland Irish Rugby Tours, taking their first international tour in 16 years.
The last time they were touring overseas, Eddie Cummings was the coach. Now his sone, Casey, is the coach and to be able to take the team overseas is a special moment for Casey.
St. Francis Lancers Gallop to All-California Title
The St. Francis Lancers made it two All-California HS titles in a row as they torched Torrey Pines 60-41 in a wild, high-scoring championship match.
"We were outgunned," said Torrey Pines Head Coach Matty Sandoval. "We stuck to the game plan and for the most part it worked. We just don't match up with their attack."
Cardinals Defeat Gonzaga
Top-ranked HS Club Charlote Cardinals defeated Gonzaga College HS Saturday 43-29.
The Cardinals took an early lead on a couple of scores Gonzaga would probably want back and expanded that into a 35-8 advantage at one points.
"All credit to Peter and his team for giving us 70 minutes of great rugby," said Cardinals Head Coach Jason Zehmke.
St. Ignatius Pulls Away in First Meeting with St. Edward
St. Ignatius of Cleveland took the lead in their Cavoli Cup series against local rivals St. Edward.
The Cup is named after a beloved and respected teach who taught at both schools, and is awarded based on results not only with the Varsity sides, but their B-sides and Freshmen teams as well.
Monarch Over Valor in Week 3 of Rugby Colorado
Monarch HS defeated Valor Christian in a tight one in the Colorado HS league, edging their rivals 15-12.
AIdan Morton and Cody Phillips scored tries for Monarch, while Dean Martins added a conversion and a penalty.
Valor was led by scrumhalf Jake Pizza and prop Boston Bellamy, who both scored, while flyhalf Landon Jones was very good.
