Here's a look at Boys HS 7s going on around the nation as we are coming into championship time.

Utah

The Northside Red Wolves won the Ensign Peak Conference while Wasatch won the Copper Canyon Conference. It was the Red Wolves who went on to take the Utah Tier 1 Boys championshiop.

Herriman took the Plate

Wasatch Rugby emerged as the Tier 2 Cup Champions, adding another trophy after previously capturing the Copper Canyon Conference championship during the regular season.

Northside Black Wolves claimed the Tier 2 Plate Championship, Brighton Rugby won the Bowl Championship, and Rhino/UYR Barbarians finished as Commissioner Cup Champions.

Pennsylvania

As we wrote about, Doylestown is the only unbeaten team in the state's top boys league. But right behind them are Berks, LaSalle, and Elizabethtown.

Ohio

St. Ignatius comes into the championship tournament this coming weekend the #1 seed, but they did lose their first 7s game in five years. The last loss was the state final against St. Edward in 2021. This time, it was a very tough and well-drilled West Pitt side that upended the Wildcats.

Two tries from Isaac Miller and a try plus three conversions from Joseph Boyles secured a 21-19 win for West Pitt.

St. Ignatius Head 7s Coach Matt Pickston said it was about time his team lost, and the team will learn from it.
Still Ignatius ends the regular season 14-1, with West Pitt 12-2-1, St. Edward 11-3-1, and Shaker HS at 10-5. Those are the first four teams in the North.

In the South, St. Xavier wins the division with a 12-1-2 record, with Moeller (who beat St. X 15-10 this past weekend) 13-1-1, Dublin at 5-8-2, and Walnut Hills at 5-9-1.

Those eight will play off in a straight bracket format this coming weekend.

New York

The first official leg of the New York State HS 7s Series took place this past weekend. In JV action Pelham was on top, beating New Rochelle and Play Rugby comfortably. The clash between Play Rugby and New Rochelle was a thriller which New Rockelle won 19-17.

In varsity action, Mount St. Michaels is expected to join the series next week. Saratoga also joined this week.

Both Pelham and Fordham 1 went undefeated and tied each other 19-19.

Pelham, led by Josh Laveyssieres and Rory Culman are listed as 1st based on fewer points allowed.

Play Rugby is just behind these two.

North Carolina

Huskies and South Charlotte are deadlocked at 5-1 with only a close-loss bonus point putting Huskies on top.

In their last meeting Huskies beat South Charlotte 26-5.

Tennessee

The championship weekend in Tennessee is upon us as the regional winners converge in Hendersonville. Out of the west 901 has been the top side but they have been pushed a little by Power Center Academy, a team that, if you let them, was torch you with their speed and elusiveness.

So far, 901 has been organized and smart on defense and held them off.

In the East, Knoxville Youth Rugby has come on well and they are best team out of that region.

And in the middle, it's Raptor Rugby. In the past couple of years Raptor has gone unbeaten only to lose in the state final. This year, they lost some early games and then went on a bit of a redemption arc.

With Jake Lehmann and Noah Stopforth scoring tries and Quinn Shrauger providing a big, physical presence in the middle, they have a shot to finish it off this time.
