Busy Weekend in Men's DII College Rugby
About 40 games are slated for this week in Men's DII college rugby, and while we expect some to be postponed or canceled because teams are struggling to bounce back from COVID shutdowns, we expect to see some good games, too.
As many as one-third of the games from last week didn't get played, but here's hoping it's better for this week.
Some games to keep an eye on:
New On-Field Approach and Old Off-Field Unity Power CMU
Central Michigan's victory over Grand Valley State last weekend was notable because it happened, but also because of the degree of the win.
CMU won 48-14.
Marist Holds Off RPI in Tri-State
Marist pulled off a very big Tri-State Conference win early in the season, beating RPI 25-12.
RPI came into the season with a big roster and some experience, and certainly plenty of potential. Marist also has bolstered its numbers and looked fairly polished on the day.
Belmont Abbey Edges UNC-Charlotte on Emotional Night
Belmont Abbey defeated UNC Charlotte 10-7 Saturday in an emotional Friday night for the new varsity program.
Last weekend Belmont Abbey player CJ Hopper died. CJ/s mother Cynthia and his twin brother Chris were on hand for the game and in a pregame ceremony they were presented with CJ's jersey.
DII Men's College Season Ramps Up This Weekend
Almost 30 Men's DII college games and while we know that several teams are struggling to bring their numbers back to pre-COVID levels, we are also seeing some games that mean a lot to how the conferences might pan out.
