The Southern Rugby Conference is a college rugby league made up primarily of teams from the Carolinas and Virginia, competing across multiple tiers including Division I and Division I-AA. It participates under the auspices of National Collegiate Rugby (NCR), with its member institutions contesting both league play and national qualification. The conference structure accommodates a mix of large university club programs and smaller colleges, indicating a spectrum of competitive levels rather than a single monolithic division.

Since being established in 2011, the Southern Rugby Conference has consistently produced nationally-ranked programs (Top 25 in the nation). UNC-W and Furman University have both participated in the 15's Sweet 16 since joining the conference. The Citadel won the 2016 SRC 7s Championship to join the elite teams in the DII National 7s Tournament accompanied by UNC-W who were our conference runner-ups in 7's and 15's Champions.

UNC-Charlotte Sets Standard with Win

Two undefeated teams met up in the Southern Men’s DII college conference, and the result was something of a surprise.

It wasn’t that UNC-Charlotte won that was the surprise, but that they beat Appalachian State - historically a very strong team in the conference - by the score of 48-0.
