Southern California HS clubs go into the Boys HS Rugby National Championships feeling pretty good, and also feeling like they got out of a pretty heated crucible in their league.
The San Diego Mustangs won the league, looking most impressive in doing so.
Playoffs and trophies are at stake in the West now in boys HS rugby.
Celina and Woodlands already claimed their state championships in the Varsity and the Club leagues, respectively.
Thunder Rugby secured a spot in the Boys HS Rugby National Championships with an emphatic 45-15 victory over Belmont Shore.
With the win, Thunder, which has already defeated SOC Raptors, has won the three-team Socal play-in for the HS National Championships. (San Diego Mustangs had already secured an invitation.)
In Southern California, SOC Raptors defeated a tenacious Back Bay club 29-22. That moved the Raptors 1-1.
Back Bay is a group of big, powerful athletes and while they are now 0-3 they have competed, staying within a try vs Belmont Shore and SOC.
