The Rugby East Conference is a premier collegiate rugby conference in the United States, which determines its champion based on regular-season records rather than a playoff. The conference consists of Army West Point, Life University, University of Mary Washington, Mount St. Mary's University, U.S. Naval Academy (Navy), Penn State University, and Southern Virginia University.

Rugby East Fires Up

A bigger Rugby East conference kicks off this weekend with an eye toward producing the top DI men's college team of the fall.

This year, eight teams are in the conference - Army, Buffalo, Iona, Kutztown, Penn State, St. Bonaventure, West Virginia, Wheeling Jesuit.

Penn State Hires Two New Head Coaches

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (Penn State Release) – The Pennsylvania State University has named Blake Burdette and Kate Daley head coaches of the Men’s and Women’s programs respectively. Following a three-month search led by Director of Rugby, Chris Amoratis, the two were selected to fill the first ever full-time coach positions in the program’s history.

Iona Downs Rutgers

Iona defeated Rutgers 53-3 Saturday at Ioan’s Mazzella Field in a non-conference game, with the Gaels scoring nine tries and belt Rutgers try-less.

Greg Amaty scored 13 points with a try and four conversions, while John Powers and Mike Marino both added a brace of tries. Tyler Ringwood, Dylan Evans, Sean Hardiman, and Mike Marro all touched down once.

High-Scoring Start for Wheeling Jesuit

Wheeling Jesuit defeated West Virginia 67-5 Thursday night in an open-subs preseason game.

This followed on from WJU's 51-17 defeat of the University of Cincinnati on Saturday.

Iona Impressive in Opener

Iona College started their fall 2015 season with an impressive 50-8 defeat of Fordham this past weekend.

The Gaels started their season with characteristic vigor on defense, getting to the Fordham ballcarriers with speed and pushing the Rams backward. And when Iona got the ball, they were equally aggressive in challenging Fordham.
