The UMass men's rugby team is a Division 1-AA program that competes nationally. They recently finished 4th in the nation at the National Collegiate Rugby Championship (7s) and have been a top program in the Liberty Rugby Conference, winning the conference's 7s title three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025).

Stifling UMass Defense Sees Minutemen Past BC
In a meeting of unbeaten teams in the Liberty DIAA Conference, UMass beat Boston College 20-13 to improve to 6-0 and drop BC to 5-1.
With the victory the Minutemen should be tops in the Liberty East which should set them up for a semifinal against Columbia, while BC will face off with Binghamton.
