Longtime Tri-State-Area rivals Xavier HS and Greenwich meet up this weekend.
It’s a big game for Greenwich, which has run into some tough games of late - losing to Fort Hunt in the Jesuit Rugby Classic, and losing to Fairfield Pegasi in Conecticutt.
In a result that was considered quite the shocker around the country, Fairfield Rugby Club defeated Greenwich HS (ranked #7 among single-school teams by Goff Rugby Report) 29-10.
Greenwich High School won the Ariel Re Bermuda 7s boys HS bracket this weekend, defeating West Chester in overtime in the final.
In one of three massive clashes between highly-ranked teams this weekend, #5 Xavier HS came back to beat #7 Greenwich HS 37-36 with a penalty kick at the death.
It’s yet another showdown of top single-schools as #5 Xavier hosts #7 Greenwich.
This game has more to it than just some sort of tri-state bragging rights. The seedings for the Boys HS National Invitational Championship in Charlotte, NC could well be at stake.
