GRR: Greenwich HS
Greenwich put down a bit of a marker this weekend with an emphatic 26-0 shutout of Aspetuck in the rain.
Benja Thompson was outstanding at scrumhalf as the Cardinals ran their attack well while the entire team showed up defensively against an Aspetuck team that has plenty of weapons.
Even when the reserves came on the Greenwich defensive structure held.

Tri-State AreaGreenwich of Connecticut defeated Rye of New York 27-14. It was a tough, competitive game in which Rye wasn't helped by a red card (two yellow-card-worthy high tackles).
Woodlands is on tour this week in Connecticut, taking on Aspetuck, Greenwich HS, and Staples HS.
Traveling with 32 players to get A- and B-side games, and played Aspetuck this afternoon. Please see attached final score sheet and running score sheet. We will also play Greenwich on Tuesday and Staples on Thursday.
Fourteen teams played in the latest weekend of action in Rugby New York's fall HS 7s action.
Seven teams played in the Boys Varsity bracket, while the rest were split between the Boys JV and the Girls brackets.
In the Girls bracket, Play Rugby went undefeated, with Morris 1 taking 2nd, Morris 2 3rd, and Spartan 4th.
This has been a strange season for rivals Staples and Greenwich.
The two teams ended up facing off three times and came awfully close to making it four. Their first meeting was a regular-season game which Staples won 28-16. Their next meeting was at HS National Championships, where Greenwich garnered revenge with a 30-12 result.
