It is a big weekend of rugby in D1A but especially NCR D1 and D1AA.

Teams secure championships, and get into major playoffs this week.

Here's how it goes:

In the Big 10 we get the final between Indiana and Notre Dame, plus all the placement games. Both teams will get into the NCR playoffs, it's just the runner-up will have to play a play-in game.

Big Rivers decides its champion with Thomas More and Marian facing off at Kuntz Rugby Stadium in Indianapolis. This should be a close one. The playoff situation is the same as for Big 10.

Liberty already has their championship set up, with Brown taking 1st and Dartmouth 2nd. AIC, at 3rd, was hoping for that at-large bid for the NCR playoffs, but word is that Southern Nazarene will snag that.

Six ARC teams play off for five NCR playoff spots, with all three games in DC. St. Bonaventure remains favorites over Queens, but not by much. The big question is, can Wheeling, which has had a bit of a rough time, rebound enough to beat a Kutztown team aching for a win.

In D1AA, we're going to see the Heart of America semifinals, which got a late shift because of a paperwork issue for Kansas, which dropped the Jayhawks to the semis. Iowa has to shake their head at that, but neither semifinal (the other is ISU vs Oklahoma) is an easy one.

SCRC decides its champions (Kentucky or Tennessee in an almighty tussle) and so does Liberty (NC against surprise Babson). MARC is "only" in its semis, while we see two finals where the team that lost the earlier matchup might have an edge the second time around: Bowling Green vs Louisville in the MAC and Sam Houston State vs Texas A&M in the Lonestar.

In D1A, it's a preseason period for teams in California, almost all of whom are starting earlier than they have in the past. The Midwest gets a couple of fun matchups, with Davenport vs Lindenwood a classic. Army takes on a surging Penn State.

Colorado State at Grand Canyon could be the big one.
