NC State Wins Cardinals Clash With VMI
In a meeting of two of the very top teams in the Cardinals Conference men's DII college competition, North Carolina State defeated Virginia Military Institute 34-29.
Both teams have high expectations in the league, and so it was no surprise the game was that close.
For VMI, flyhalf Thomas Mitchell was a standout, and No. 8 Cory Atkins led the forwards and scored.
Citadel Gets On Field, Wins Rivalry Match
The Citadel finally opened up the season after tropical depressions and Hurricane Irma delayed the first two matches.
The Backyard Brawl took place for the Holy City Cup. The annual event when the Citadel takes on cross town rivals the College of Charleston.

Bethel College Moving Up
The new Midwest DII Conference could be a dark horse in the playoff picture, with several solid programs that ave won at the DII or NSCRO level.
Among them is Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN. With Gil Gadia in as Head Coach and Darrell Knowlton, assistant coach in charge of the forwards, Bethel has moved up from NSCRO to try its hand at DII.
