Early Season Clash Valuable and Close for Indiana and Kentucky
The fall season kicked off in impressive fashion Friday night for the University of Kentucky and Indiana University.
Kentucky hosted the Hoosiers for three games, with the Wildcats taking the C-side convincingly, and the B-side game in a somewhat closer contest.
But Indiana took the A-side match in what was a quite dramatic contest, 22-13.
Scholz Finalists Head MLR Draft Picks
Logan Ballinger is the #1 pick in the 2026 Major League Rugby draft.
The soft-spoken, hard-hitting loose forward from Life University (and, before that, Boca Juniors in Florida), let his play do that talking and was snapped up by Old Glory DC in the first pick of Round 1 on Thursday.
Seven Teams Tough it Out in Intense Rugby East
The Rugby East is not getting any easier.
This D1A conference sports hugely capable rugby teams from top to bottom. Navy has been in the D1A final in three of the last four seasons, including a championship in 2023. Army became the first cold-weather team ever to win a D1A title, taking home the trophy in 2022.

We need to see something to knock Cal and Navy off the top two. With Cal seeing their halfback combination leaving they are vulnerable to being moved out of #1, but somebody has to do something special to get that accomplished.
Is the SCRC The Toughest Conference in D1AA?
The SCRC has almost certainly become the toughest conference in D1AA.
That's a strong statement, because the MAC and the new Midwest D1AA both are pretty strong, too. However, with the slight realignment in the SCRC by having three teams play a lower tier schedule, the top six are all play-caliber teams. And some are championship-caliber teams.
