Around US in HS as Playoffs Get Going
We've got a bit of ao roundup of HS action across the USA.
MetNY
In a meeting of two of the top teams in the MetNY area, Pelham and Rye tied 13-13.
Both teams managed just the one try, and added two penalty goals. Pelham scored three minutes in and seemed to have the run of play. But mistakes kiboshed their other scoring chances.
BC High Impresses in Win over Aspetuck
It was a good weekend for BC High Rugby as the Eagles beat Lincoln-Sudbury 70-7 on Friday and then took care of Aspetuck 43-14.
In Friday's match, prop and captain Mikey Smith scored two tries and the team in general did well to find space and work with good support lines.Eleven different Eagles scored tries.
On Sunday, Aspetuck visited Boston for a non-conference matchup.
Pendleton Rolls to Midwest Title
Pendleton defeated St. Ignatius in the final of the Midwest Championships Sunday, taking the game 25-21 to cap off a 3-0 weekend.
While it is fair to say this was not a completely full-strength St. Ignatius team—no seniors due to prom weekend—this was still a very good showing from the Arabians of Indiana.
Pendleton opened their account with an emphatic 63-7 win over Medina og Ohio.
Midwest Tourney and Playoffs Highlight HS Weekend
It's another big weekend in Boys HS rugby.
We have playoffs in Virginia, Northern California, and Southern California. We have the Florida final with Okapi vs Jacksonville, and the Louisiana final with NOLA Jesuit vs Brother Martin. Woodlands plays Four Points in the Texas club final.
The Midwest tournament is a really interesting mashup of teams from all over. St.
Boys HS Club Top 50 2024: Week 16
If there is one HS club team we would NOT want to play it might well be Danville.
That teams has made significant strides this year and their coaching staff should be commended. We had them pretty far down for a top NorCal club but they are moving their way up and clearly are improved.
Most of the movement is lower down in the rankings, with Tempe moving up five after winning Arizona.
