Boys High School rugby has its annual kickoff in the desert with the Puriri Memorial Invitational, but there's more going on than that.
While the school-team league in Northern California keeps going, some clubs are still playing some early matches.
The SacAir Islanders and Danville Oaks played what was probably better termed a scrimmage. They played three periods, and then were having so much fun they added a fourth. This contest ended as a 29-29 tie.
The weather is a major concern this week as super-cold weather smacks a good chunk of the USA.
While many of you that live new the Great Lakes or in the Northern Great Plains are all saying “yeah, yeah, so what’s new?” remember that those in warmer states don’t have the infrastructure or the equipment to handle a major cold front.
It's early days yet in the Northern California school season but already we have new dogs showing some bite.
Such as Rio Americano. The Hawks faced off with St. Francis, who had been so strong the last couple of years, and came away with an impressive 31-21 victory in Varsity Open Division play.
