Rookie Rugby Cleveland had about 500 kids in the spring of 2021.
Last year the number improved to over 600, and now they've topped 800. If there's a bigger Rookie Rugby league in the country, we haven't seen it (if you have, let us know).
We decided to sit down with Dan Arbeznik, who runs Rookie Rugby Cleveland, to talk about how it's done and how you can do it, too.
Tropical 7s Youth Brackets Attract Major Academy Programs
The youth sections of the Tropical 7s bring 24 teams to Tampa for this coming weekend's massive event.
Over 170 teams in various brackets will compete, but right now we're looking at the U14 and U12 teams.
Massive Response for National 7s Youth Championships
The National 7s Youth Rugby Championships is now pretty much fill, with just a few open spots in the Girls U14 bracket.
There is, however, a waitlist for some brackets.
Urban Rugby Championships This Weekend in SoCal
City youth programs will face off this weekend in the Los Angeles area for the 2023 Urban Rugby Championships.
The tournament was born out of a meeting between ICEF Rugby founder Stuart Krohn (LA), and Memphis Inner City Rugby founder Shane Young. The two realized they were of like purposes and decided to work together as part of an Urban Rugby Initiative.
Registrations Up in Youth and High School Rugby
Player registration in youth and high school rugby is ahead of where it was a year ago, according to US Youth & High School Rugby.
Registration numbers for specific states: Texas, South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee, have already exceeded the number of players registered for the entirety of the 2022 spring season.
