Atlanta Women Strong in Cape Fear
The Atlanta Harlequins ended Day One at the Cape Fear 7s Women's bracket 4-0 Saturday.
Atlanta won all four gems but none was a blowout, as they defeated the DC furies 19-12, NOVA 20-10 Southern Exposure 29-10, and Berkeley 14-10.
DC are second at 3-1, beating Berkeley somewhat soundly 26-12 and edging Southern Exposure and NOVA.
Atlanta Women Win South
The Atlanta Women's Rugby Club won the Surfin' 7s this past weekend, in what was the final qualifier for the women's South 7s club qualification process for the National Championships.
West Palm Beach, Fla., the Harlequins went 3-0 on the weekend, beating Orlando Women 22-0 in the final to secure their spot for the region.
ORSU Joins WPL
The Women's Premier League has announced that Oregon Sports Union (ORSU) will replace Beantown for the 2014 season.
Atlantis Women Win in MadridThe Atlantis Women VII toured Spain during the last week of May, engaging in a 2-game scrimmage with the Madrid Selection on Wednesday May 28 and then winning the third leg of the Madrid Sevens Series on Saturday May 31.
Beantown Women Drop from WPL
Boston Mass. — Beantown RFC today announced its decision to withdraw from the Women’s Premier League and enter New England Rugby Football Union’s Division 1 for the fall 2014 season. Beantown, as one of the original 8 teams during WPL’s inception in 2009, will continue to strive to be at the forefront of Women’s rugby in the USA.
