GRR: USA Women 7s
The goal for the USA women's national 7s team is to get into the top three.
They want to step onto the podium and make a statement in advance of Paris 2024.
It was pool play of huge surprises in the Singapore 7s, at least where the USA was concerned.
The high-flying women's team, which had an eye on getting to the #3 seed, were edged late by South Africa, and beaten fairly comprehensively by Japan. They followed that up with a loss to France (more likely than losses to the other two) and 0-3 in Pool Play.
The USA Women’s Sevens team took 2nd at the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong SVNS Sunday, securing their second-straight podium finish after their Bronze Medal showing in LA.
The USA women took 3rd at the SVNS LAX, losing just the one game all weekend.
After beating Spain by a massive margin and Great Britain almost emphatically, the Eagles capped off their pool play with a tight 22-19 win over rivals Canada.
The women's rounds for Friday night are wrapped up at the LA Sevens, with one major surprise.
Brazil put in an excellent defensive performance, keeping FIji from scoring until the final seconds. Before that, Bianca Silva scored on a pick-and-run at the end of the first half and they frustrated Fijiana after that.
