The New Year sees the NCR college schedule shift from 15s to 7s, and a series of tournaments leading up to the CRC event April 24-26 in Maryland.

This 7s schedule includes a series of automatic qualifiers. Some of these are a bit more local in nature, but others push to get as many competitors from around the nation. One of the latter type is the Yellow Rose Showcase.

The Houston-based tournament is slated for February 28-March 1 and will also include a showcase and combine for high school players hosted by Gorilla Rugby.

The tournament is an automatic qualifier for all four men's divisions: Premiere, D1, D2, and D3.

So far 32 teams from 12 different states and 10 different conferences have committed.

More teams from inside and outside Texas are expected to sign up this month, attracted by the potential of an automatic berth to the CRC, and also some opportunities to recruit with the Gorilla Rugby High School Showcase.

Any collegiate 7s program in the USA is eligible to compete—signup deadline is February 1.

Any high school rugby athlete looking to showcase their talent in front of college coaches may attend the HS Showcase. To get started there contact Gorilla Rugby here>>
