Western Washington and Washington State lead the field after Day One of the Men’s NCRC 7s in Pullman, WA.
WWU went 3-0, defeating Washington 43-7, Eastern Washington 19-12, Oregon 42-0. In the seller Pool B, WSU needed just two victories, but both of them were close. The Cougars beat Boise State 12-5 and Oregon State 24-19 to win the group.
Sunday sees the semifinals and final held, with Oregon State (22-5 winners over Boise State to finish 2nd in Pool B) facing the WWU Vikings. In the other semi, WSU will face Eastern Washington.
EWU looked impressive with a 29-17 victory over Oregon and and 36-17 win over Washington, while also pushing WWU.
The winning team will earn a berth in the Men’s D1AA bracket of USA Rugby Collegiate 7s Championships, which will be live on Florugby May 24-26.
