The West Coast 7s is back for this fall again and this series is most definitely a major part of the collegiate 7s calendar after a slowdown in the early 2020s thanks to COVID.
Now in its third year after its comeback, the 1st leg of the 2026 West Coast 7s at Dignity Health Sports Park features eight programs.
The tournament still has an active high school bracket with Cathedral Catholic, OMBAC, and Carmichael in action. But the attention is likely more on the collegiate event.
The Mexico Universities team, Mexico ANUIES, will compete and that ramps things up a bit. Claremont Colleges, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, and University of San Diego also compete.
Notable also are these teams: Cal, which has been the favorite (and winner) in pretty much every tournament they play in, will be back.
The Bears will send two squads to Los Angeles, with Cal I serving as the program’s top side and Cal II competing as its reserve side this season.

Indiana competes, and this is the first time we have seen a team from the Midwest compete. Indiana will be playing a Big 10 Conference 15s game this weekend, but Assistant Coach Nick Taylor will take a talented 7s team, captained by Matt Chevalier. Keep an eye on Joey Reis on that squad.
The tournament will be live on the West Coast 7s YouTube channel, and their app will cover the scores.
