This week's Power Index we see a few power shifts and some changes.

A New Era Dawning in Red River

You have to go back to 2017-2018 to find a season where Oklahoma were not undefeated in the regular season. With losses already to Texas and Texas A&M – and Baylor still boasting an undefeated record – it seems power in the Red River conference may be shifting south to Texas.

This is reflected in the Power Rankings. This week the Sooners – who started in the Top 40 on previous years’ results – have fallen out of the rankings. Meanwhile, the Aggies have vaulted up to 24th and bounced back well from a Week 5 loss to Sam Houston State.

First Big Shuffle in Top 10

The Army-Navy Game did not disappoint last weekend. With the upset win, Army jump to 6th and Navy fall to 10th. A Top-5 ranking is within Army’s reach… if they can knock off top-ranked Lindenwood on November 12th. Navy have a more methodical route to build back to their rating with upcoming matches against Kutztown, Penn State, and Dartmouth.

Eyes on Northern Iowa

In 2019, the Panthers were a middle of the pack team in the Great Midwest. In 2021, they are undefeated, have scored 313 points in 4 games, and are beating opponents by an average margin of 69.5. They have now overtaken Nazareth and Brown to be the biggest risers in the Power Index this year. They are aggressively trending upwards but this week they meet perennial GMW championship contenders: UW-Whitewater. Will the Panthers run continue or will the Warhawks halt their climb up the Power Rankings?
