The North American qualifier series for the World Rugby Trophy kicks off at this evening at 6pm ET as USA U20s play Canada U20s in Spartanburg, SC.
The match will be live on FloRugby. As the first of a two-match series, the aggregate winner on victories or points will advance to the World Rugby Trophy in Kenya this July. The second match is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 from Spartanburg Regional Field at County University Stadium. Tickets are available.
Both teams have named their lineups for today's game (see below).
"As a team we are excited about the challenge that lays in front of us and the honor and privilege we have to represent the USA at home in our back-to-back qualifier matches," said Head Coach Kyle Sumsion. "Canada comes in battle hardened with three games under their belt and have selected a very talented side with a great coaching staff. The long-standing rivalry has always produced physical and dynamic games and we are expecting this year to be no different.
“This group of players makes me very excited for the future of rugby in the USA. These young men are and will continue to be instrumental in shaping the rugby landscape, both within the national team as well as professionally with Major League Rugby, the USA Hawks and the American Raptors. Collectively, they are all driven to push USA rugby to new heights, and I fully trust them and their ability to do so."
