The USA U18s have had a lot of moving parts in their tour of South America.

That includes switching Tuesday's game against Uruguay U18s to a game against Brazil's U18s. It's still in Montevideo. It's not 5PM, it'a more like 7:30PM.

Head Coach Luke Lewis has made a complete change in his side, with the eight players on the bench against Uruguay three days ago and the eight players who weren't in the 23 taking the field—15 of them starting and one on the reserves bench.

This makes sense as there hasn't been much of a turnaround for those who started against Uruguay, a game where the hosts won 29-26.

"Reflecting on the game, I am happy with the overall team performance against an experienced Uruguayan side," Lewis. "Considering our limited time together we showed some great moments and put them under immense pressure when we followed our processes and game plan, particularly in our set-piece where we were dominant throughout the game."

The USA forwards were very good against Uruguay and Lewis wants to see the same this time around. But he also thinks they can vary things up a bit.

"Our collision dominance in attack was high, but our focus going into the next game will be our depth on our shape to allow us time to make good attacking decisions," continued the coach. "In defence, our ability to exit and control them defensively multi-phase was also very impressive and we forced them to make errors in the right areas."

Lapses in concentration allowed Uruguay to take the game in the end, and the players are learning from that.

"This has given our players a valuable education and experience on how clinical international rugby is," said Lewis. "What was most pleasing was our grit to stay in the fight until the very end, and we even created some chances later on that could have put us in scoring opportunities to win the game."

So an almost perfect result for a coach, a close loss in which a team can take confidence and also some harsh lessons. We'll see now how they transfer those lessons to the game against Brazil.
