Saint Mary's took it to Cal Saturday, beating their Northern California rivals 32-14 Saturday in the second game either of these two teams have played since March of 2020.

The Gaels were able to bring back a couple of players who didn't play in last week's win over Central Washington, and despite having trouble in the lineout just found more space to exploit.

"The first thing to acknowledge is we were outplayed by Saint Mary's on the day," Cal Head Coach Jack Clark said. "The second thing, is we didn't do our part to make the match more competitive on the scoreboard. We had our opportunities to ring the bell, but had too many critical errors at key moments. It's all fixable, but in a three match truncated season there isn't really room for a performance you want back."
