NCR D1 games are down to the wire now with conference champions and playoff spots being decided.

St. Bonaventure vs Walsh is the ARC decider and a rematch of a wild game where a cover defender bumping into the goalpost helped Walsh score the game-winner in a 20-14 nailbiter.

Bonnies failed to score as many as seven times when within five meters.

It's all been so close in the ARC, and now one game decides who gets a bye to the quarterfinals and who doesn't.

Queens, meanwhile, had been in position to fight for that conference top spot, but now will face off with Kutztown for 3rd in the conference. That's big, because that seed should get into the NCR playoffs as an at-large.

Speaking of #3 seeds, there remains a decent chance that Fairfield will be in the NCR playoffs. We thought they wouldn't make it, but Notre Dame, the #2 NCR team in the Big 10, is not really expecting to get the nod. Their 90-0 loss to Brown on October 24 kind of made that decision.

At GRR World Headquarters, we think that means the door is open for Fairfield, a solid 4-2 in the Liberty.

What about the top two in the Liberty? Well that's Brown and Dartmouth. They play each other this weekend for the conference title, and also the top spot in the new Scholars Cup challenge competition.

The Scholars Cup did provide a useful cross-conference comparison (witness the Brown win over Notre Dame), and, as designed, gave UCLA a bit more of a body of work to be evaluated from. UCLA did perhaps just enough to make the playoffs overall.

The Big Rivers decides its champion with Aquinas facing Marian in Chicago. This will be an intriguing matchup of two different styles, with the high-powered offense of Aquinas and the physical and stingy defense of Marian.

The winner will get a bye to the quarters, as will Indiana, who have the Big 10 final to come but are already the top-performing NCR team in that conference. Another seed could come out of the Big Rivers, as, also in Chicago, Iowa Central plays Indiana Tech in what appears, at the moment, to be a bit of a tossup.

So with all of that we've got: St. Bonaventure, Walsh, Aquinas, Marian, Indiana, Brown, and Dartmouth for sure are in.

We also think Southern Nazarene and UCLA will get at-large bids, and the winner of Queens-vs-Kutztown gives us 10 teams.

ICCC-vs-Indiana Tech would give us another, and Fairfield one more.

So that leaves us with
