Men DI College Rankings Spring 2017 Week #4

In this latest edition of the Goff Rugby Report all-DI men's college rankings, Cal remains at #1 basically because they did exactly what you'd expect (beat a ranked team ranked in the 20s), and then did it again, on the same day, with a different lineup.

So that was pretty impressive, and then add in that #2 Life has been keeping a low competitive profile, and Saint Mary's was idle. BYU, ranked #4, played and lost to the Glendale Raptors, but in keeping with our long-held policy, a game against a men's club can only help you. If you lose, well, you get a (sort of) mulligan. Sort of in the sense that we'll keep a close eye on any vulnerability in the Cougars, especially since Central Washington has started so strongly.

Lindenwood does move up, while Penn State did exactly what you'd expect. There are two major moves further down, neither due to a victory (funny how that works out). LSU lost to Arkansas State, but led late and lost only 27-17. That's a pretty good score for the Tigers, and we move them up significantly (13 points) because of that result. Oregon comes in after tying Washington, and those two share the #47 spot.
