D2 Games really get going now and in fact we have a few that carry some weight.
Below we list the games for the weekend, including some crossovers where the D2 team plays a D1, D1AA, or Small College team. We've also got some all-Small matchups there because they are being played as part of a D2/Small College hybrid league.
But, notable for our rankings:
Cornell at RPI. It's a new conference for RPI and they started off well with a win over RIT last week. Victory over Cornell and they're in solid shape to contend.
SLU at Washington. St. Louis University started off very well last week and now face a Washington University team that was a breakout squad in 2022. With no Principia in the Gateway now this is a wide open conference.
Just about all of the New England Wide games. How excited are we for this NEWCRC season? Pretty excited. And that's because just about every game involves at least two ranked teams (joke). Pin us down and probably Vermont at Coast Guard is the most marquee of them this week. But we're very curious how Maine holds up here as the new kids in town. They get to host Norwich.
Auburn at Georgia Tech. Tech competed well last year in a tough SCRC that saw Auburn and Memphis fight for the top spot. But this is a key game in part because Auburn won't be in NCR D2 playoffs because of their school size(How Auburn Men's Rugby Ended Up in No Man's Land). So this is a very important measuring stick for GT, espeically since they play Memphis a week later.
Great Midwest blows up next week.
