Men D1A Rankings Week 29
We took a break from the D1A rankings last week because ... reasons ... among them being that we didn't have a lot of results.
Obvsiouly it's playoff time so that makes it relatively easy to rank teams, right? Right?
Not always. The big thing here is that we have top teams that have all lost games. Every single team has lost games.
Life lost to Queens—a close game, to be sure, but they lost.
Cal lost to Navy—on the road and without a couple of key players (Rand Santos, for example).
Everyone lost games. So what we've been doing is ranking Cal below Lindenwood because Lindenwood was close to Life and Life lost by three to Navy, and Navy beat Cal. But, at some point, you have to throw out a result. Which is it? After the results we've seen, we have to throw out Navy over Cal. If we do that, the top two start to fall into play.
Now, what to do after that we have some more decisions to make. Lindenwood beat Navy, but were beaten comfortably by Life. Should they be #3? Saint Mary's was quite close to Cal, but they have been inconsistent. Are they #3 instead of #5, where we have them?
Answers to these questions might hang on what happens May 3.
