The Midwest Conference is back in action with Lindenwood taking on Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark. Saturday.

Lindenwood overcame some early stiffness to pulled away in the middle chunk of the match and win 45-25.

The Lions, said Head Coach Josh Macy, needed a little time to get things right on defense and in their set piece.

"Once we settled in and played the game on our terms," Macy explained. "From [minute] 20 to 60 we were class."

Good possession continuity led to three tries before halftime and then Lindenwood pushed the tempo in the early going of the second half, scoring off a quick-tap.

However, things slowed down in the final quarter, and Macy said the team needs to see a rise in play from their closers.

"Moving forward we need more from our bench and we need to manage the game better in the last 30 minutes," he said.

Scrumhalf Jack McAllister pushed that tempo and is driving those quick rucks. With Byron Forword looking more and more comfortable at flyhalf, and captain Dave Scanlon leading by example at lock, Lindenwood is in good shape atop the Midwest Conference.

Debutant center Vinny Villela was energetic and physical in his first A-side match.
