Kentucky Starts Repeat Road
Kentucky is looking for another conference title and took a big step forward this past weekend with a 40-12 defeat of Alabama.
But UK will get a good challenge in the DIAA SCRC from Tennessee, which defeated DIA Notre Dame 31-12, and who also beat Memphis on the same Saturday. But there’s another challenge lurking.
“I was a little nervous going into the game,” said Kentucky Head Coach Gary Anderson. “On the last four or five times we played Alabama in 15s and 7s it has come down to the last seconds. They are a great program.”
Add to that the fact that Anderson felt his team was sloppy the previous week against Ohio State and didn’t look much more precise in training last week.
“But the guys turned it on for the game,” Anderson said. “It was by far the best we've looked so far this year.”
No. 8 Anthony Mencini led the effort.
Meanwhile, Kennesaw State has shot to a 2-0 record after a 50-7 pasting of South Carolina, to follow up on a 29-19 win over Tennessee. KSU and UK meet up October 5.
