Two minutes after Kentucky No. 8 Ezra Blackman powered through for the Wildcats' first try. Kentucky seemed to hold most of the possession and finally scrumhalf Andrew Weeks set up wing Nate Ingalls who scored.
John Dardis converted and it was a tie ballgame.
With halftime approach center Alex Dempsey cut through a gap and Dardis converted for a 21-14 Wildcat lead, which held until the end of the first half.
A strong carry from hooker Charlie Sizemore set up a chance for center Luke Keough and he finished it, but Kentucky didn't really blow up the game until the final quarter. In the last 20 minutes, Keough set up flanker Brendan Lynn, Sizemore thundered through, Colin Spellacy set up Dempsey for his second, and reserve oroi Blaine Donlon scored on a pick-and-go to wrap it up.
Kentucky now leads the SCRC with a 2-0 record but they do have South Carolina and Tennessee on the horizon.
"I'm extremely pleased with the result, especially considering the new conference structure where it's a straight table," said Kentucky Head Coach Sam Enari. "It means our fate in the conference is still in our control. Clemson has been a hard battle for us for the last several years and we're excited to get a big result. While it didn't go exactly how we would have wished , in particular in the first quarter, we were able to stay composed and work through our systems and end the half with a close lead. We were also bolstered by some incredible individual performances notably Ezra Blackman."
