The big game this week is Life University at Lindenwood, with the Mid-South Conference on the line.
However, there is more to play, likely, with those two and with Davenport ready to wrap up a pretty solid conference season, too, we could well see three Mid-South teams in the playoffs. Might we see Life vs Lindenwood again? Yes, we might.
Navy hosts Penn State a week after beating Cal. That victory over Cal has had big ripples throughout the program. To host Cal and play them well is a big deal. To win in their first year of varsity status is even bigger. Paced by an exceptional back row and with prop Matt Thibodaux being co-player of the week at the Academy, the Midshipmen pulled off a startling result.
But Navy can be better. They made mistakes. They can improve. Despite being the #1 team in the nation, the Midshipmen have more to give, which could be a bit scary.
Also big this weekend is BYU at Central Washington. The Cougars have been solid this spring, but part of that has come in two plucky losses to Life in the fall and Saint Mary's in the spring. They'd dearly love to knock a big dog off its perch (can a dog be on a perch?). Central is possibly the highest-ranked West Coast team ... they are for GRR ... and this game is where they prove it.
DIAA Showdown
Fresno State vs Sacramento State is a massive clash for both teams in the California DIAA. Likely both will be in the playoffs, but this game is the decider for the top spot.
