Icy Weekend in HS Action
Snow and cold weather hit a few parts of the country not ued to it, so we had a few cancelations and postponements.
The Louisiana teams battled through some snow, although we did have one game moved to later because of the snow. Bless their hearts down there in the bayou but they don't really have the resources to handle a snowstorm.
East Jeff and Jesuit New Orleans won, but as we have said before, the big news is also how there are more teams in the league.
In Southern California, Orange Lutheran won big over St. John Bosco. San Clemente continues their solid form with a big win over La Jolla 47-19.

In Arizona, Tempe beat Eclipse 31-15.
The forward pack did the job as they were tough in the breakdown and got around the paddock nicely. No. 8 Marleigh Fely was very difficult to contain as his runs off the ruck put the Eclipse defense under pressure.
Center Lucas Schiermeyer was perhaps the best of the backs, as he was explosive on attack and played smart defense. When Eclipse was forced to kick, fullback Opalani Paea would return those kicks with interest with a series of impressive runs. Wing Gabe Maturan also made big gains and as a result, Tempe played most of the game inside the Eclipse half.
Florida
Florida opened their season and defending champs Okapi are fielding two sides, with the White side being more experienced and the Okapi Pink side being a bit younger. Head Coach Juan Orfila has just under 50 players with which to work.
Both teams opened with wins, with the Okapi White 48-17 over Boca, and Okapi Pink 28-19 over Wellington.

Faith Family Academy came off a nice win over Plano last week to face Strake Jesuit. This was a decent showing for FFA but they are still developing, as they lost 46-22.
FFA Head Coach Jeffrey Robertson had several positives to take away from that game, not least of which was they they came back from a 22-0 deficit to make a game of it.
For Strake, they had split thier squad for Ruggapalooza last week so how they play together was a bit of a question.
"We are relatively young team compared to our rosters in the past, so we are trying to find what players fit in the best position groups," said Strake Head Coach Jason Kimball.
Snow in Houston curtailed training over the previous week so Kimball was a bit trepidacious about the game.
"We knew FFA has their strongest team that I have seen, and their fullback Isaiah 'Carl' Williams is one of the best playmakers in the state, so we had no idea what kind of performance we would get out of our boys," said Kimball. Both teams made early mistakes, but Strake scored on their chances, leading 22-0 at the break.
Strake got into a rhythm in the second half but FFA did come back as the game progressed.
Scrumhalf Jackson Hebert played the entire game and was excellent for Strake.Lock Bobby Barrett captained the side and was the anchor for the pack. Sophomore No. 8 Felipe Edbrooke scored two tries and added some defensive muscle.
In the backs, center Charlie Mohr was a playmaker on both attack and defense, flyhalf Fran Morretti set up some big plays, and wing Kolbe Stewart crossed the tryline twice.
