The largest, by far, category of player in our Top D1AA players is loose forward.
This is in part, of course, because there are three loose forward positions. But it is also a reflection of where teams line up their most athletic forwards. If you want someone with the ball in his hands, you tend to put a #8 on his back. If you have an excellent tackler with a nose for the ball and a big engine, he's wearing #7.
This is the case for many of these players, but we also have some blindside flankers (#6), who usually bring their own brand of physicality.
Two of NCR's D1AA Player of the Year nominees, Gage Curry and Phil Tracey, are included here in the Loose Forward list. But this is a list more than just two players; there's a lot of depth in quality here.
Congratulations to all.
