Goff Rugby Report brings back its Hot 100 players for the fall.
Here is our first of several lists, with the props and hookers for D1AA men's rugby. This is only for teams that play significantly in the fall, so players from Florida and the West Coast will have to wait until the spring to get into a different list.
This is also not quite 100 players. As always seems to happen, we end up with more than 100 ... this time around 120. We try to ensure that there's a relatively even spread of players by position and by conference, but it's not set in stone.
We follow a formula based on how teams put together their gameday 23s to figure out how many players is the ideal number per position. We also track how many selections there are per team in each conference.
The upshot is this: We expect there to be about 27 selections for the front row. And, weirdly, that's how many we have. For conferences, we average about 2.0 selections per team, with some conferences average higher than that and some lower, but none really all that far off.
