Clemson Youngsters Take Sunday Victory
Clemson moved to 4-0 Sunday with a 24-11 defeat of Virginia in ACRL action.
The Tigers, who are slated to clash with AIC in the ACRC Bowl Series, ran out a mostly freshman lineup againt UVA after sending a more veteran group to beat Maryland on Friday. The test of the Clemson depth produced good results, although it wasn't easy on Sunday.
"Virginia challenges us from the first whistle," said Clemson Head Coach Steve Lynch, who added that his Tigers had difficulty staying composed early on.
"Many players tried to make up for mental errors and tried to do too much, compounding the problems," said Lynch. But they settled down as the match progressed.
"This was a difficult weekend," said Lynch. "But it allowed us to play 36 different players in varsity matches. I am pleased with the devleopment of our younger players and the quality of time they are getting."
