The Charlotte Tigers wrapped up a very successful championship weekend, taking the North Carolina HS Club title, and the 2nd-side title, and runners-up in the U16 playoffs.
"It was a good showing from the boys," said Tigers Head Coach Demond Burwell. "They really are starting to click and are starting to come together."
Charlotte Tigers A-side beat Raleigh 38-14 to win the state championship.
Almost all of the Tigers forwards returned from last year's team. However, their backline was relatively new as starters.
"We had to take some time to get a feel for each other," said Burwell. "We needed to trust the structure and trust each other. We learned a lot about what combinations worked. Playing the Cardinals, Cavemen, and other teams really showed us where we were. And we were in those games."
Wing Nehemiah Gill, Jr. was electric and blazed past Raleigh for three tries.
Lock Xavier Flowe was also outstanding.
