Change For Feb 3 ARC Doubleheader
USA Rugby has announced that the February 3 doubleheader February 3 at the StubHub Center has changed.
What is staying the same is the USA Men's National Team facing off with Argentina XV in the Americas Rugby Championship.
However, the previously-planned Super Rugby clash between the Blue Bulls and Stormers won't happen, and instead a men's D1A PAC Rugby Conference game between UCLA and Arizona will be held instead.
Sources say that the sticking point for the Bulls v Stormers game was that organizers (USA Rugby in conjunction with AEG) could not find the right flights for the teams. The schedules started to break down last week, and eventually everyone involved realized it wasn't going to work.
Arizona and UCLA are pretty happy to step in:
"UCLA is very excited to play our PAC Conference match with the University of Arizona in advance of the ARC match at the StubHub Center," said UCLA Men's Head Coach Scott Stewart, "What an amazing opportunity it is to advance our sport from the collegiate level and be a part of the growth of rugby in Southern California in the build up to the 2028 Olympic Games."
"This is a fantastic day for the PAC Conference and D1A to be included in this great day of rugby in the USA," said University of Arizona Head Coach Sean Duffy. "I'm sure I speak for both UCLA and our program in that this will be a fantastic experience for the players of two strong PAC programs."
Fans who bought tickets for the event in order to see the Bulls v Stormers will reportedly get refunds.
