Breakouts Target Big NIRA Weekend
Breakouts Target Big NIRA Weekend
Who is the top team in NIRA D1?
Certainly Sacred Heart is the breakout team of the moment, but they have some challenges ahead.
How Sacred Heart Built Their Strong Start
But Dartmouth remains the defending champs. This week the Big Green is at Princeton and is strongly favored in that game. Could it be Harvard? Yes, it could be Harvard.
They looked very solid in their first runout, against DII team AIC. Now they host the 2022 DII champs in Queens (now in DI). That could be the game to watch.
In DII, by the way, AIC hosts an exciting and quite opportunistic New Haven side that beat UNE in emphatic fashion. Damaris Williams and Gia Cucarese both scored two tries in a 45-7 win for UNH, and they are a team to watch in DII. AIC? Conversely they were shut out by Harvard, but are coming out of it with a positive attitude and some good lessons.
"It's who's going to show up and put in the work," said Fletcher. "I think we had two opportunities that we just, you know, fell short on capitalizing on. That's what comes with a new team and maybe in the beginning of the season it's just having that discipline to be patient. We are hoping to clean up some things and keep building."
