Boys HS Games April 12-16
We'd say this was a busy week in Boys HS rugby, except it's not.
Several leagues are taking the weekend off due to Easter; otherwise the list below would be about twice the size it is now.
Some matchups to look more closely at:
Mountain View v Capital in Idaho. The winner still has a shot at 1st. The loser does not.
St. Ignatius v Xavier ... a non-league game between GRR's #4 and #3 single-school teams.
West Valley v Genesis. Teams we have written about of late. (West Valley Defeats United in Utah and Genesis Gets By East in Utah) are unbeaten and play each other, so that's exciting.
East HS v Palmer Terrors. It's still somewhat up in the air in Colorado, and if East loses, then it's even more so ...
Back Bay v Belmont Shore. We tell you all about that one here: Back Bay v Belmont Shore a SoCal Classic. Royal Irish visits St. Xavier in a good test for Royal Irish.
In Oregon, Beaverton v Northside is a clash of undefeated club teams Battle Ground v Newberg is a meeting of single-school teams with only one loss.
And in Washington, all of the games mean something. With Liberty losing to Tacoma last week, Rugby Washington is, as usual, completely up in the air. After everyone has played four or five games, there is no team without a win, and no team without a loss. Chuckanut has struggled without their HS All Americans, understandably, but the season is long enough that the absence of Ben Broselle and Jack Wendling isn't a death knell. At 1-3, Chuckanut and Seattle are not out of the playoff picture, but each could really use a result this week (Eastside appears to be done as their remaining games are listed as canceled). Liberty (4-1) and Rainier (3-1) are in the driver's seat, while Budd Bay hangs tough at 2-2 and Tacoma is a surprise 3-2.
