The Boston College Eagles held off Babson 32-21 to win the Liberty Conference D1AA final Saturday.

Babson had come in having upset previously unbeaten Northeastern, a team that had defeated BC. But that's why they play the game. Boston College's attack has been building nicely and they opened up an early lead.

A blocked kick and then a scrum won against the head led to two tries in the fist 10 minutes.

It seemed like it was that sort of game, with opportunities and turnovers being key to points. Babson proved that, intercepting a pass inside their 22 and racing 90 meters to score.

That try gave the Beavers a lifeline but BC was smart about putting the game away. While Babson opted many times to keep the attack in their forwards, opting not to test BC out wide too often.

Boston College was able to defend and make Babson's comeback slower than it needed to be.

For their part, BC will be lamenting a few knock-ons in scoring position, as Babson hit hard and defended their line well. They will also be unhappy to see prop and captain Sean Murphy leave with an injury.

Leading the way for the BC offense was scrumhalf Bobby Voth, who scored two tries and served as the team's goalkicker with three conversions and a penalty goal for a total of 19 points.

Despite winning their conference once more, BC will be in a play-in for the D1AA NCR playoffs. Babson, too, will get a play-in as eight teams have those first-round games and only four go straight to the quarterfinals.

With today's results, here are the playoff teams:

NCR D1AA Quarterfinalists
Louisville, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech

NCR D1AA Play-in Teams
Boston College, Bowling Green, Babson, UNC Charlotte, Kentucky, West Chester, Sam Houston State and Oregon State.
