Army Shuts Out Air Force
West Point defeated Air Force 39-0 Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"The win was good and the shutout was great," said head coach Matt Sherman. "Just being able to play in tough conditions, battling in some pretty cold temperatures, was awesome."
Prop Marco Carrabotta leads the team with nine tries after he touched down against the Zoomies. Collin Grosse and Jason Green also scored to stake Army to a 17-0 lead after 20 minutes. The Black Knights powered through for another try, by Nathan Brooks, and Army led 22-0.
Air Force held firm for just over 20 minutes, but the relentless Army attack pot Ben Vasta, Paul Adams, and Jason Blackwood over, with Jack Royston converting one in each half.
With the victory, Army improves to 5-4 and goes 1-0 in the three-game Commander-in-Chief Trophy series among the service academies. Air Force is done in that series, having gone 0-2. So the Army-Navy game in the spring will be the decider.
