Some HS Roundups: BC, SIHS, Cardinals, Aquinas
Here's a quick look at some of the developments in Boys HS rugby around the nation:
Nor'Easters
For us here at GRR World Headquarters we're pleased to see teams play outside their region.
Eastside Remains Atop Washington With Win
On a splendidly sunny day at Lake Stevens Community Park, the Eastside Lions and Chuckanut Bay Rugby Club faced off in an entertaining match that ended up with an emphatic victory for Eastside.
The game started with Eastside asserting their intent. Their forwards worked meticulously downfield, setting up Parker Jackson to go over in the corner for the opening try.
Gonzaga Defeats Georgetown Prep in DC
Gonzaga defeated local rivals Georgetown Prep Friday night, taking the game 48-15 in DC.
Gonzaga has just returned from a trip to Argentina where they played two very strong clubs.
Fairfield Beats Ridgefield in Midweek Game
Fairfield Prep took a 43-10 win over Ridgefield on the opening game of the Rugby Connecticut Season this week.
Ridgefield maintained possession for first 20 minutes and ran big runner after big runner into Fairfield's defense. But Prep withstood the challenge and held them scoreless, later one getting the ball to start their attack.
Big Weekend in Boys HS Rugby
A few notes from the last couple of weeks and looking ahead.
There was a big result in Northern California that we didn't go over in detail, but it showed the San Mateo Wolverines defeating a very good Elsie Allen side by a fairly emphatic score of 35-12.
The Wolverines wanted to be in NorCal's Premier Division but last year was a tough year for them with every game (!) an away game.
